Come See Our New Creation Event – Jan 27th
I have purposely steered away from all the rumouring around Apples forthcoming announcement mainly due to the sheer volume of posts everywhere else, but today the rumours have gone some way to being confirmed after Apple sent out invites to an event on Jan 27th ( just 9 days away from today ).
The tagline of “Come see our latest creation” doesn’t really confirm the nature of the event but it is clear that the industry is very much behind the view that this one will finally, after a number of false starts, be the event where Apple show us what they think a tablet computer should look like.
Yet More Apple Netbook Rumours
Engadget.com have another report of possible relevance to Apple netbook rumours. They claim in this article that Apple have struck a deal with LG to supply 10″ OLED displays for the forthcoming netbook. To be fair Engadget do comment that the source of this report may well not be the most reliable and to read this for what it is, just another rumour….

MacRumors.com have posted this article which suggests that the anticipated delivery date for OS X 10.6 aka Snow Leopard has been brought forward to Quarter 1 of 2009. This is exciting as it potentially points to a January MacWorld announcement in Steve Jobs Keynote speech.
EU Ruling – Batteries MUST Be Easily Removable

According to this post on RegHardware the European Union is preparing to launch new guidance to electronics manufacturers regarding the use of internal batteries which could cause Apple some headaches, but if it goes through presumably will benefit consumers in the medium term.
According to the article the EU directive will mandate that by 2012 25% of all portable batteries must be recycled and the implication is that the consumer should be able to readily remove the battery themselves, something that is currently not possible for Apples iPods and the MacBook Air.
New Nano A Step Backwards ?
Posted by Scott in Featured, Rumours, iPod/iTunes on September 7, 2008
Am I the only one to think that the design of the new Nano, purportedly being announced this coming Tuesday 9th September, is a bit of a step backwards ?
It looks to me like a slightly elongated Gen 2 Nano, which I think is really odd. Are they saying that the Gen 3 Nano design was a mistake ? Clearly the form factor of the Nano is constrained to a certain extent by the sceen dimensions, and I suppose if the associated announcement of HD video content from the iTunes Store also materialises then this would probably be a factor in the selection of a wide screen format display for the new Nanos.
