If you have ever listened to Will’s podcast you will have to agree that it is well worth 99p of anyones money so if you haven’t already, run, don’t walk to BritishMac.com and get signed up !

PS. If you are interested Will is having his annual Xmas get together at his new studio situated just outside Ironbridge, Shropshire ( and just a few miles from UKMac HQ ! ) next weekend on the 11th December. All listeners are invited and there is rumour that Will is intending to record an episode of the podcast during the evening ! Knowing Will there will be plenty of beer and the plan is for the event to move into Ironbridge during the evening for a curry and more beers. See you there….

Just heard on the excellent podcast BritishMac.com a recommendation from Will Green for a new UK based podcast about Mac called http://www.macbites.co.uk. I have downloaded the latest Episode and am listening as I type. Basically three Mac “switchers” discussing hints/tips and news.

The UKMac fan site of the day is AppleAre.com. This is a nice Apple site with news and reviews of Apple Mac and other Apple products. It has a nice section for iPhone wallpapers ( which persumably will become iPod Touch/iPhone wallpapers in a couple of weeks time ) and also a collection of quotes from Steve Jobs which are well worth a read.

Recommended.

It seems the number of Mac sites and podcast by Brits is growing by the day. One of the latest additions is BUMP British Users of Mac Podcast, a new site from two young lads Chris ( age 14 ) and Stu ( 23 ) who have so far produced half a dozen podcasts (available through iTunes Music store ). Worth a listen if you want a UK focused Mac Podcast.

More locally to myself here in Shropshire there is UkMac.co.uk ( my sites name sake ) run by James Rickards and Will Greens excellent BritishMac podcast at BritishMac.com. James is also a budding podcaster and already produces a podcast for the local residents of Broseley, his home town, and intends to start his own Mac focused podcast in the very near future.

If you know of any other good UK sites focused on Mac or Apple products drop a line in the comments and I will add to the links on this site.

Thanks to Will on BritishMac.com for the mention at the end this weeks podcast ( issue 55 ) ! As you can tell things have been a little quiet here for the last couple of weeks due to Summer ( if you can call it that ) holidays. As luck would have it these last two weeks have been awash with Mac news… New iMacs, iLife ’08 and iWork ’08 to name but a few. I am currently reviewing iLife and iWork and will hopefully post some news/views on these new products shortly. First impressions are really positive, I am loving the look of Numbers which finally brings presentation quality to the world of spreadsheets. iMovie ’08 looks to be a stunning product as does the latest release of iPhoto, both of which have bought innovative new functionality to the fore which certainly keeps these products a step ahead of the alternatives.

I’m a big fan of podcasts and have a number of regular downloads on iTunes that I sync to my Nano to listen to in the car on the way to and from work. Unfortunately for us Brits most of the Mac oriented podcasts are very American-centric… Apart from that is the BritishMac Podcast !

BritishMac is a UK Mac Podcast put together by a fellow resident of Shropshire called Will Green. He has been going for over 50 episodes now and has a fairly substantial following by all accounts. Will has a pretty distinctive style to podcasting which is immediately endearing. He is a big fan of Tony Hancox and this shows through in his podcast which never takes itself seriously and has a nice quirky humour to the whole affair. Each episode is broken into a number of sections including such BritishMac News, Ye Old Mac and Mouse, The British Mac Labour Exchange, FrankenWidget, British Icon and more.

If you are looking for a podcast with a touch of Britishness to it, look no further, head over to iTunes and subscribe to Will’s take on Uk Mac…
