9 to 5 Mac Impressed with Flash 10.2

Seth Weintraub over at 9 to 5 Mac has posted this article today following the launch of Flash 10.2 in which he states that it is “a screamer!”. Apparently the new version not only makes full screen 1080p playback possible on relatively lowly hardware it also manages this without over taxing the machines processor to much into the bargain.

Sounds as though some of the negatives of using Flash may have been resolved ?

BBC iPlayer App to Land This Thursday

The long awaited iPlayer app for iPad is officially landing in the app store ( presumably UK only ? ) this Thursday 10th Feb. In this tweet Geoff Marshall, Interactive Operations Engineer for the BBC, confirms the date of arrival and states that the service will be WiFi only ( no playback over 3G ).

Genius Update to mobile iTunes Store

The Genius Recommendations feature of the app store and the desktop iTunes store has been around for some time now and many including myself find this an invaluable tool for finding new apps that would never otherwise pass under your radar. Apple have now finally updated the mobile ( iPhone and iPad ) iTunes store to introduce the recommendation service to your music and TV/Movie viewing purchases.

To access the service just click on the “More” tab on the iTunes Store app ( bottom right ). To hone your choices you have the usual options of filtering based on genre etc.

New MacBook Pro’s Due March ?

Rumours have been circulating for some time of a possible imminent update to the MacBook Pro line based mainly on dwindling supplies and lengthening lead times for supply of existing MacBooks and the fact that the products have reached their normal refresh point in Apples cycle of new products.

Engadget.com have another report of possible relevance to Apple netbook rumours. They claim in this article that Apple have struck a deal with LG to supply 10″ OLED displays for the forthcoming netbook. To be fair Engadget do comment that the source of this report may well not be the most reliable and to read this for what it is, just another rumour….

Forthcoming Fix for Adobe Air Shift-Space Problem

According to DestroyToday the bug in Adobe Air which prevents spaces from appearing if you type Shift-Space will be fixed in the next release, though currently there is no timeframe for this new version.

I will be glad to see this fix as I use DestroyTwitter Twitter client which runs under Adobe Air and I am really fed up of sending Tweets with missing spaces…
