Where do you get your Mac news ?

Mac fans are very well served by rumour sites, technical blogs, hints and tips information and links to new software. Most of these sites provide RSS feeds so if you are looking at keeping up to date with the latest posts a news reader such as NetNewsWire might be the best choice.

Spore on the Mac - Installation issues

This weekend saw the release of the long awaited game Spore. Seven years in the making and long hyped this weekend has seen ( at least in the UK ) a number of TV ad placements for the new game, several of which were spotted by my youngest son Ben who immediately decided his life wasn’t worth living without it.

New Nano A Step Backwards ?

Am I the only one to think that the design of the new Nano, purportedly being announced this coming Tuesday 9th September, is a bit of a step backwards ?

AppleInsider is reporting that analysts are warning to prepare for an “underwhelming” event on the 9th with only minor product enhancements ( new iPod Nano and reduced prices for iPod Touch ) expected. They don’t rule out the potential for a big announcement, but don’t seem too hopeful.

The Power Of Twitter

Last night I posted a reply on Twitter to John Gruber who was having problems with his iPhone sync taking hours. I pointed John at my recently posted article on the fix that I had found to my example of this particular problem. Thinking no more of it I went to bed. This morning I woke to find my site had seen a huge surge in hits during the night, todays total so far is approaching 3,000 hits which is 30 times my average daily traffic.

Lets Rock - September 9th !

Well the rumours have come true. Apple has sent out invites for an event titled “Lets Rock” for next Tuesday the 9th September. The event will be held at the Yerba Buena Center for the Arts in San Francisco rather than the usual Moscone Center. The design of the invite suggest as widely predicted that the event will be an iPod event.

iPod Touch and iPhone Slow Synching Problem Fixed

Since upgrading to the iPod 2.0 firmware and beginning to install Apps from the App Store synching on my iPod Touch has gotten slower and slower. The performance was so bad I was setting off a sync and going to bed !

Lots of DropBox Invites Available

DropBox is the latest and greatest file and photo sync service available on the Internet. Currently in closed beta access to the service is invite only but UKMac.net has a number of invites available to anyone who wants one, simply post a comment on this blog post and we will send you one by return email.

Apple have today posted the latest update to OS X Leopard, available via Apple.com or Software Update the installation is a fairly hefty download ranging from 200Mb to 420Mb. The update includes over 300 new features and fixes.
