Like many in the UK ( and other non-US countries ) I am spending a fair amount of time at the moment researching iPad apps, cases and tips and tricks in readiness for next Fridays delivery. One area of interest to many I suspect will be whether to jailbreak their new devices. The recently released Spirit application ( available for Mac and Windows ) supposedly makes jailbreaking your iDevice a piece of cake and opens the door to many of the features not available to vanilla hardware such as running apps in the background, emulators etc.
Despite all this I am personally hesitant to go through the process especially with V4.0 software hopefully not too far around the corner as this will potentially fill many of the gaps that others have used as excuses for jailbreaking. I am not interested in obtaining hacked versions of iPad software for free as I am happy to pay the very low prices that iPhone ( and iPad ) apps are sold for and do not feel I have to rip off the developers of these apps of their income.
What are your thoughts ? Will you be jailbreaking your iPad next week ? Have you done it already ? If so was it worth it ?

I will not be attempting to Jailbreak any of my apple products again. I had a bad experience of trying to jailbreak my 32Gb iPhone 3GS. The jailbreak was successful, but after trying to install an app that would allow me to alter the background of the home screen, my iPhone bricked itself. I spent over 6 hours trying to restore the iPhone to its original state.
