Auntie Beeb has finally released a beta of iPlayer for OS X and Linux ( http://www.bbc.co.uk/iplayer/labs/ ). Its been a long time coming and will fall short for those already used to downloading from the iPlayer site using the Ruby script iplayer-dl which doesn’t suffer from the DRM that downloads using the official iPlayer app will do.

I've been watching iPlayer content on my mac for months…

Using iplayer-dl presumably ?
When it is so easy to copy to DVD from broadcast TV using cheap DVD recorders the forced DRM on downloaded BBC content just seems completely pointless doesnt it ?
I guess for anyone not familiar with Terminal windows and who is happy to only have 30 days to watch downloads the BBC's new offering will be useful, personally I will be sticking to my Ruby script for as long as it works !

Just using the streaming site – unless I wanted to watch on the move there is not much difference between downloading and streaming (especially if you stream in high quality).
I'm loving the updated theme for ukmac btw Scott.
