I heard the EA reps were working on the bug but I doubt it. I found it on Gnet forums on spore.

Yes that is what I have been told by EA support in an email. I have no idea why this is the case, no other game I've ever played on my Mac has has required this and as I said in my earlier post this has to be a terrible mistake on EA's part, admin accounts as we all know shouldn't be used for day to day work.

Thanks for the comment David. DO I take it from this that you have had confirmation that Spore only works if logged in as Administrator by EA ? To be honest since setting up for my son on Sunday I have not had chance to change his account back to check if it still works.

If it isnt going to work then I might have to setup a seperate account for playing Spore so that I can re-enable Standard User and Parental Controls on his normal usage account.

Use a user with admin rights to play a game? Especially one that connects to the Internet? What were EA thinking of? This isn't mentioned on the box or I wouldn't have wasted time & money on this. It's a basic design error and I'm hugely disappointed – as you might imagine EA support don't see why this could be a problem!

Now chasing a refund.
