Mimbo Wordpress Theme And CSSEdit

Mimbo is one of the latest hot magazine-style themes for Wordpress that is getting a lot of coverage. Like the Morning After style used on this site Mimbo has configurable article images and sections and has a clean stylish look.

I have taken the opportunity to evaluate Mimbo over on my other site, Muxton.com, which has been languishing in a state of disrepair for some months now and I have to say I am very keen to re-launch it now and begin actively updating again.

What I have constantly struggled with when trying to tailor and customise any new Wordpress theme is my general lack of CSS skills. This has always frustrated me and the amount of time that even simple changes have taken in the past have really put me off any real personalisation. In the last week however my ability to do this has increased dramatically thanks to my discovery of a fantastic application for OS X called CSSEdit.

CSSEdit is a WYSIWYG CSS editor that allows even a novice to easily change and add styles to a style sheet and to instantly see the effect of those changes. Over the last couple of nights I have been experimenting with it and am greatly impressed. Hopefully when I am more familiar with it I will post some hints and tips but for now if you haven’t tried this application and you want to add a bit of individuality to your web site or blog I would strongly recommend that you download an evaluation and give it a whirl.
